Tuskegee Airman Visit!!!

Last week we had a visit from a Tuskegee Airman Lt.Broadwater. Lt. Broadwater talked to us about the struggles and rewards of being an African-American training in the air force. He looked like he was happy to see all of us. I think the most important lesson we can learn from Lt. Broadwater is when someone puts you down, never ever give up in pursuing in what you believe in and personally I think that is spectacular. Everyone can learn a thing or two from the Tuskegee Airmen. Yeah, some of them weren't the smartest, but they were Einsteins when it came to taking flight of your dreams. It was a pleasure to have spent a B 3/4 block with Lt. Broadwater.

Tuskegee Airmen visit

Last week we were honored with the opportunity to get a visit from one of the original Tuskegee Airmen. Our visitors' name was Lt. Broadwater. He told us how hard it was to be an African American in the airforce. They were ridiculed and belittled, overall what they went through was unfair. I can't imagine what it would be like to be looked down on everyday of your life and told that you were no good, and not worthy of respect. From what he told us it must have been really tough.
Lt. Broadwater told us that he was the youngest of the men. He must have had to really step it up to make sure that becasue he was the youngest he was noticed. Lt. Broadwater also taught us important life lessons. One of those were that even if someone tries to keep you down and make you feel like you are nothing keep perservering and don't let them get to you. This life lesson was very important in the lives of the Tuskegee Airmen. This is so because the Caucasian men did this to them(tried to keep them down). I learned some very valuable lessons from the Tukegee Airmen and especially Lt. Broadwater.

Tuskegee Airman Visit

Last week our class got a visit form Lt. Broadwater a Tuskegee Airman. He talked to us about the struggles and rewards of being black in the air-force. We learned multiply lessons from him. Lt. Broadwater thought us that when someone tells you that you cant do something do your very best to prove them wrong. Lt. Broadwater was a prime example that determination, dedication, and hard work really does pay off. He showed us that if you put your mind to something you can do it. Another lesson Lt.Broadwater thought us is you should set an example and be a role model for other generations to come. You cant sit idly by and let injustice run rapid. Lt. Broadwater is a role model and an American hero.

We the People Mock Hearings!

My group consisted of Ashley, Javon, Terrina, and Anna. We were responsible for answering and defending the question does the constitution protect our basic rights? As soon as my group got our topic we went right to work  writing, and doing back ground research on our topic. When it was time for the trial Mr. Justin came in to Ms.Trenkle's room to be a judge. Terrina, Anna, Javon, Ashley, and i were the first group to present. Mr.Justin said we were brave for presenting first and gave us some positive and negative feed back. Even though we did not make it to the next round at Georgetown Law we really learned a lot.

We the People Mock Hearings!

For the mock hearings we had to write one paragraph each based on the unit we were given. We were in Unit 5 and had certain questions about Amendment 1( Does the Constitution protect our basic rights). I worked with Javon, Ayanna, Anna and Terrina. We worked really well together and had great arguments. Our final project was outstanding( my opinion), and though I was nervous I think we did very well. I thought we did a great job anwering questions that the judge asked us.I feel we did a really good job. even though we didn't win we learned a lot and did very well

We the People Mock Hearings!

The other day my classmates and I did a We the People Mock hearing trial in order to move on to Georgetown law. The point of the competition is to write an essay based on one of the units in the "We the People" book Ms. Trenkle gave us. I worked with Anna, Ashley, Ayanna and Terrina. We did a very good job on our essay. Unfortunately, our group didn't make it to the Georgetown Law competition. After our group's trial, Mr. Justin gave us a little feedback. I'm not going to go into deep details, but overall he say we did a great job. He also said our whole grade knows more than the average American. In my opinion, the Mock Hearings was a blast! Even though the tough part was the actual essay writing process. My group did very well with the whole working together. The first day we got the assignment my group immediately broke it down. We assigned each other pieces of research and paragraphs to do in order to get the work straight. In conclusion, I had a great time with this assignment and I think everyone else did as well. =)
